Photography Exhibition: California Museum of Photography: ON-SITE

ON-SITE ExhibitionThe California Museum of Photography, located at the University of California Riverside has some of the best exhibitions of photography in the country. ON-SITE is an incredibly interesting photographic exhibition, and could be one of the best in the US this year.

The exhibition will run through August 22, 2010.

ON-SITE explores contemporary American landscape and domestic space showcasing photography and video by four contemporary artists. The exhibition features work by photographers Sheila Pree Bright, Stella Kalaw and Susanna Pozzoli, and video by conceptual artist lauren woods. Over the last several years all four artists have undertaken long-term projects that investigate community, location and concepts of "home" in cities throughout the United States. ON-SITE includes a selection from each artist's larger body of work and invites the viewer to reflect on both their immediate surroundings as well as other places they associate with home. While Pozzoli, Bright, Kalaw and woods each have a distinctive styles, each series is a thoughtful examination of sense of place, offering viewers different ways to think about their environment as it relates to personal geography, family and community.
If you’re in the Riverside, CA area, I strongly recommend visiting this exhibition.

As I travel, I love seeing the work of other photographers as I hope you do. If you know of a new photographic exhibition which you think the Blog should publicize, please contact me.
