Photography Exhibition: Philadelphia Museum of Art - Philadelphia Museum of Art Photography Portfolio 2010

The Philadelphia Museum of Art has become one of the foremost exhibitors of fine art photography in the nation, especially since the completion of its Perelman Building. The Women’s Committee, Philadelphia Museum of Art 2010 Photography Portfolio Competition is a wonderful exhibition worthy of this great institution.

This exhibition will run from September 4, 2010 through September 19, 2010

The Women’s Committee of the Philadelphia Museum of Art organized its 2010 Photography Portfolio Competition in recognition of photography’s broad significance as a contemporary art form, and to increase awareness of the Museum’s photography collection. The competition was designed to foster the discovery of new talent internationally.
The winning artists are Martine Fougeron (French, born 1954), Jinyoung Koh (Korean, born 1981), Rory Mulligan (American, born 1984), Jason Reblando (American, born 1973), Elaine Stocki (Canadian, born 1979), Mónika Sziládi (Hungarian, born 1974), and Janet Pritchard (Curator’s Choice, American, born 1956).
If you’re in the Philadelphia area this September, I strongly suggest you take in this terrific exhibition.

As I travel, I love seeing the work of other photographers as I hope you do. If you know of a new photographic exhibition which you think the Blog should publicize, please contact me.

A jury of nationally recognized photography experts will select six entries for inclusion in a 16" x 20" portfolio to be published in an edition of 25 in fall 2010. Peter Barberie, The Brodsky Curator of Photographs, Alfred Stieglitz Center, Philadelphia Museum of Art, will select one additional curator's choice entry to be sold as an individual print in a limited edition. The Museum will exhibit the portfolio and the individual print in fall 2010, and an event will be held at the Philadelphia Museum of Art to celebrate the production of the portfolio.
