Smartphone Apps for Photography: Focalware

Focalware app iconOne of the ideal times for taking photographs is during the golden hours, sometimes known as the magic hours, essentially the first and last hour of sunlight during the day.

The wonderful tones you can get in your photograph due to angle of the sun during those times is amazing.

Focalware is one of the best Sunrise/Sunset apps for the iPhone I've found. It's not currently available for Android smartphones.

Focalware calculates the sun and moon position for a given location and date. You use the interactive compass to determine the path and height of the sun or moon. Focalware is extremely easy to use and is highly accurate.

With information from Focalware you can plan those special sunrise and sunset photographs well in advance of taking your trip, which is highly advantageous for photographers.
“Focalware for the iPhone is a complete rewrite of a popular program developed in the 1990’s for the Sharp handheld computer by Warner Photography. Filmmakers and still photographers have used Focalware on assignments around the globe.”
I'm always on the lookout for new photography apps for my iPhone and for Android apps too. If you have a good one to suggest, contact me. If I like it after testing, I'll give you credit for your suggestion in my Blog article about it. Thanks.
